Rena + Geoff

I had a fabulous time playing with Rena and Geoff for their engagement session! We started out at the Taj Cafe in Ventura because that is where Geoff proposed to Rena. We wanted a urban feel so we walked around downtown and explored some alley's. I just love the new Watermark Resturant. The architecture is AMAZING! I grew up in Ventura and every time I head back downtown I'm surprised by all the new improvements. Ventura is getting so hip!

I'm doing some headshots for Wellpoint. Steve, being the fabulous husband that he is, helped me out with some prep. Yeah! So I headed out today and scouted the location. Here are some of my favorite pictures of Steve. Some obviously not corporate, but since I had him there I had some fun! Isn't he handsome :)

Jenny + Pakin Album

Jenny and Pakin's wedding album design is ready! I had such a fun time designing this album. They had the brilliant idea to get married in Maui and have their reception at home. This album is just for the reception. We did some amazing portraits at Pasadena City Hall and the headed over to 888 Seafood resturant for the reception. I love clean simple album design. No keylines or crazy colored backgrounds. Just something classic that will still look good 25 years from now.

Out with the old, in with the new!

It was just time to redo my branding. I loved my hot pink, black and white baroque... but I really decided that it just didn't match my personality. While I loved the bold style, I wanted a site that reflected a little more of me and was a little less trendy. So after weeks of soul searching... who is Chelsea... I came up with something that I absolutely love to death! Who knew what would start out as a change in colors on a website would turn into such a project. After many hours of picking out colors, defining my style and brainstorming design concepts I can finally launch my new branding.

Say goodbye to the old Chelsea Elizabeth!

And say Hello to my new sophisticated blue!

Some baroque borrowed from my old site, some new grungy swirls and a little some thing blue.... Don't get too attached to the old blogger blog. In a few more weeks I'll be launching my new blog-site. The best is yet to come!

I thought it would be fun to put a list of frequently asked questions together. I get asked these questions from every bride and groom and thought they should have a home on my blog. If you can think of any other good questions leave me a comment and I'll be sure to give it an answer!

Q: How many times have you worked specifically as a wedding photographer?
A: Too many to count ;) Almost every wedding I shoot is on this blog with an exception to a few weddings I've shot for other photographers. You can browse through and get a good overview of all my weddings.

Q: Are you a member of any associations or groups specific to the industry?
A: Yes, I'm a member of the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International, Professional Photographers of America, Wedding Photojournalistic Association and Open Source Photo. These memberships have allowed me to stay on top of new trends, great products and inspires me in my art!

Q: What is included in your packages?
A: Although some packages vary, every couple receives the following:

Q: What style do you specialize in?
A: I mainly am a photojournalistic photographer. Your wedding is all about you! I'm there to capture it unfolds. I search out those special moments that make your wedding and family unique. I'm also inspired by fashion and love creating fabulous portraits.

Q: Will you be available to discuss the wedding day photographs prior to the date of the wedding?
A: Yes, I love getting together with the bride at least 4 to 2 weeks before the wedding. I'm also always available by phone or email.

Q: Will you be taking the photos at our wedding?
A: Of course! I don't have associate shooters. When you book me I'm your the lead photographer for your wedding.

Q: Do you have an assistant?
A: Yes, I always bring a second shooter the wedding. They don't carry my bags, they are photographing your wedding. I ensure we have different roles so we are not shooting the same thing.

Q: How many pictures will you take?
A: Every wedding is different so it varies but I usually deliver 100 images for every hour I'm at the wedding.

Q: Will you accept of list for specific photos to be taken?
A: I always capture the usual events of every wedding. If there is something unique about your wedding please let me know and I'll be sure to capture it. The only list that I usually need is who you want in your family photos. Be sure to destinate someone who knows your guests to gather them on the day of the wedding.

Q: Do you have all photographs from two weddings that we can review?
A: Yes, you can view a lot of my weddings from my blog. Recent full weddings can be found on my online gallery. All galleries are locked but you can email me for the code to review a full wedding.

Q: Do you have references?
A: I started collecting reviews on my blog. You can review some feedback here.

Q: How long after the wedding will the proofs be ready?
A: All photos are posted within 6 weeks of the wedding date.

Q: If I decide I have to cancel or reschedule my wedding can I have my retainer refunded?
A: No, the retainer and all payments are non-refundable, non-transferrable. The retainer reserves your date for you and Chelsea Elizabeth turns down all other bookings for that date.

Q: Can you provide/post the proofs online? Are proofs passcode protected?
A: Yes, all weddings have online proofing. The password is the grooms last name.

Q: Are you available to help plan a wedding album?
A: Yes, after the wedding I invite you back and we select the images and album that you want. Each album page has an average of 3 images on it. I design all album pages.

Q: What happens if, for some unforeseen event, you can not make the wedding?
A: Luckily I network with some really fabulous wedding photographers. We have an emergency list if anything happens to one of us. I will ensure that someone will be photographing your wedding that is at my skill level or better.

Q: Do you have backup equipment available? What kind?
A: Yes, I come to every wedding with at least 2 of everything. I have two cameras, three flashes, about 10 different lenses. I have plenty of extra batteries charged and lots of memory cards. I make sure my second shooter does as well.

Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: Of course! You can fill out a credit card for or pay online via my payment site.

Q: Do you have a bridal registry?
A: Yes, every couple has their own registry once as a customer of Chelsea Elizabeth. This is great for letting your family and friends buy you prints, frames, canvas, thank you cards, and more album pages. You'll receive a credit in a dollar amount that you can use when your wedding gallery is online. View Bridal Registry.

Q: If our event lasts longer than scheduled, will you stay and what rate will you charge?
A: Of course! My overtime rate is $450/hour and $550/hour over 8 hours. If you decide to keep us longer, Chelsea Elizabeth will invoice you after your wedding.

Q: Will you give us the negatives/digital photos or what is the charge?
A: A DVD of all high resolution, color corrected JPGs is included in every wedding package.

Q: What equipment do you use?

A: A great time is 2 or 3 hours before sunset. Schedule your ceremony so your cocktail hour is the hour before sunset. That's the best light for formal portraits. See what time the sun will set on your date. Click here :)

We snuck in my last engagement session of the year on a super dramatic winter day. Michelle and Steve got some amazing stormy beach skies that I just love!!! MIchelle works on a boat so it's sooo fitting that they had thier engagment session at the harbor and on the beach. Michelle and Steve were such a fun couple to shoot! I can tell that their wedding is going to be full of a ton of laughs!

Our first Christmas!

It was my first time hosting Christmas at my house and I was sooooo excited! Everything really turned out amazing! Here are some cute pics!

I got Steve a Wii... funny story.. because that's what he bought for me too. We kinda caught on before Christmas and I got an iphone instead!

Now that I'm married I get to cook all the holiday dinners. Here's my mom and Annt Clyda a little too excited to pass off the "honor" ;) Gotta love them!!!! Thankfully Steve knows how to cook!

How could I blog this wedding only once. I know it's odd... but as I was editing this wedding I just fell in love with so many more pictures that I had to put more on the blog. The details were just so phenomenal. Karmela and Sal got married at Brand Park in Glendale. The Reception was held at Urartu Resturant. It was a beautiful as it was a party!

Amanda + Andrew

Amanda and Andrew were my first mini-session of the day on Sunday. I was so excited to shoot at Camarillo Ranch for an engagement session. The fact that it was already decorated for Christmas was an added bonus. The red walls of the stables and barn are amazing! Amanda and Andrew are such sweethearts. They totally worked it for this session! Congratulations on getting married later in the year at Hartley Botanica!

I met up with the Lowen's for thier annual family portrait for the Christmas card. I was so excited that we got to use thier neighbor's vineyard for the portrait session. There is nothing I love more then portraits in a vineyard at the golden hour. It's the trifecta! ;)

The Redden's

I was so glad that Mara called me and asked me for a portrait session while I was on my way up to Ojai. The timing worked out just perfect. We got a really cute holiday portrait in their backyard. Then we headed off to the field where they walk their dogs every day. I thought it was so fitting to get some pictures showing the love they have for their dogs and is representative of the simple things they do every day. The dogs had so much fun during this session! They are beauties!

Zhipi's Family

Zhipi wanted some nautical themed holiday portraits so we headed on down to the Channel Islands harbor. Let's just say that it was sunny in Thousand Oaks and arctic down in the harbor. It's like we'd traveled up to Alaska.. ok maybe not that extreme but chilly!!!! Zhipi's hair looked so beautifully straight when we headed over... but it just wouldn't be Zhipi without those curls ;) LOL! We tried!

I love this one of them laying on the grass. I had Zachary's crab in my hand and he was just dying to play with it!

I had the pleasure of photographing my kick ass second shooter Kip and his wife Davina. It was about time I did something nice for Kip. He really helps me gets through a wedding. Next time Kips going to take some pictures of me and Steve :) After this session we had a fabulous dinner the King's Head. We had a really fun wedding there the night before and had to come back and enjoy it on a night off with our spouses. Great night, great photo session!

I met up with my Cousin Laura to take her annual family portrait. This year we met up a really cute park in the Conejo Valley. The bridge was so cute for a family portrait. I love that she chose blue this year! Mix it up from the expected red and green. And of course Sophie was all smiles because Santa loves good kids that give big smiles for the photographer ;) Cheese! I'm so glad Sophie got to go visit Santa after the visit. Hopefully next year I can go with them :)

Karmela + Sal

2008 wedding season ended with a bang with Karmela and Sal's wedding! They were married at the Japanese Garden at Brand Park. What a hidden little gem it is! It's so beautiful and the light there was amazing. After the ceremony we took pictures in front of the house and the library. The Brand Library has some amazing architecuture and I just love those arches!

Desirae and Grealon had their engagement session at the Santa Monica Pier. Desirae's mom did an amazing job on the flowers for me wedding and I was soooo happy to return the favor. I can't wait for their wedding at Spanish HIlls in April! This couple was made for the camera!

For my second mini-session last week I met up with Tobi's family at the Santa Monica Pier. I just feel in love with the green wall underneath the pier and thought it looked like a fun backdrop. We had fun playing the sand, doing a little hide and seek and running from the waves. I love the beach! If only I were a kid again :)

Kaoru and Patrick were my first mini-session of the day on Sunday. I was so excited to shoot on main street in Santa Monica again. I just love all the brick walls! The way these two look at each other is just so sweet! There was lots of laughs in this session. These two have a great sense of humor!! I can tell their wedding is going to be tons of fun! Erin and Ernie planned a great wedding and reception! The ceremony was held at Church of Our Saviour and the reception was held at the Ye Olde Kings Head in Santa Monica. I just love a good Irish pub! An Irish pub with an Irish band is the icing on the cake! Ernie wore his Army uniform and Erin has the most fabulous pair of Manolo Blahnik's I've ever seen! Even Carry Bradshaw would be jealous!

I'm so excited to announce that I've booked the Camarillo Ranch House and it'll be decorated for the holiday's!

Chelsea Elizabeth Photography will be offering mini-sessions at select locations for the holidays. Each mini-session will be 30 minutes. This sweet offer is only $150 and will include 25 holiday cards or one 8x10 print. All sessions will include an online gallery for ordering prints and other goodies. All prints will be online within one week. Note: digital files are not included but can be purchased a la carte online.

These sessions are great for family portraits. You can also take advantage of this offer for engagements, seniors, pets and just for fun!

You can reserve your time by contacting me and paying the $150 + tax session fee ($160.88). This will reserve your spot. All session fees are non-refundable. If your family becomes ill you can reschedule for another date.

Chelsea + Steve: The Reception

On Saturday I had the best night of my life! It was sooooo amazing! To think we had an amazing wedding in Hawaii. I didn't think it got any better then that. The wedding was a dream and the reception was the icing on top of the cake! I feel so honored and blessed to have been surrounded by my family and friends. It was sooooo much better then I thought it was going to be. The details turned out great thanks to Karyn, the DJ was amazing, and everyone had a fabulous time! Our reception was at the Westlake Village Inn, in the Mediterraneo Resturant banquet room. Beautiful! I recommend it to all my brides looking for a elegant small reception!

Il Cielo, Bevery Hills

I had the pleasure of photographing an amazing wedding on Saturday at the Il Cielo in Beverly Hills. We started out at the Four Seasons and headed over to the restaurant. The details were amazing! Love the colors and love the restaurant! My favorite was the cake with the bunny cake toppers. Soooo cute!!!!! The restaurant has this amazing glass ceiling that opens up to the starry skies. After dinner all the guests and waiters walk the couple back to the four seasons singing italian love songs. I thought I was in heaven!!!

We got maui'd!!!!

Steve and I just got back from an amazing wedding in Kapalua, Maui. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. The whole trip was so much more then I could have ever expected!!! The amazing Jen Rau came along to capture the amazing day! She did such a fantastic job! I couldn't be more estatic about my pictures. We got ready at the Ka'anapali Westin, took pictures at the Ritz Carlton beach in Kapalua and then had our ceremony at the The Plantation House. What a day! I feel so luck and fortunate to have had such an amazing wedding!

I had an amazing time with Jenny and Pakin at their reception on Saturday. We were on the same wavelength! They got married in Maui and had their reception with family when they got home. So perfect! We did some portraits at Pasadena City Hall and then headed on down to 888 Seafood restaurant. Good times!

The fires didn't keep this couple down! We were supposed to shoot this session at the beach in Malibu but went to plan B after the fires and wind broke out this morning. I'm so glad we did! It was so much fun and a nice pleasant break from wedding errands. We started off in a nice wind protected area of the Mandalay Bay Hotel. When we headed down to the beach the wind had died down. It was perfect!!!! I'm so glad we got a great session in. I can't wait for their wedding next month!

Ashley and Mark were married at The Royal Scandanavian. I'm so glad the rain cleared up because it was beautiful!!! We started out at the Inn for the getting ready. For the pictures and the first glance we headed over to the Santa Ines MIssion. The itself if beautiful but it overlooks this georgous valley. We just had to get some pictures in front of it! The Santa Ynez valley is so beautiful. After the ceremony Ashley and Mark had a fun reception with a home made photo booth. I loved it!!!! Best photo booth I've seen so far!

I think the Firestone Vineyard Crossroads Estate is my most favorite place on earth! Ok maybe not on earth but definitely my number one for weddings. It's so rustic yet elegant. The landscape is so perfect just by itself that you don't need many details. When Kim told me that they were getting married at Crossroads I was so excited!!! Kim and Bill had the most beautiful vineyard wedding. I thought their details went just perfect in the barn. The weather was amazing and they were surrounded by friends and family. Who could ask for more. We did most of the pictures before the wedding so that Kim and Bill could enjoy the cocktail hour. I think it was worth it! The whole day was just perfect! Congratulations you two :)

I had a great time with the LaSala Family on Monday. Cherie had the best idea of the boys fishing and running around with ballons. I hope I gave her artistic vision justice. She dressed the boys up like good old all american boys. Such a classic shot! We met up at Rancho Simi Valley Park. It's such a cute little hidden oasis in Simi Valley. I love the duck pond! This family was having soooo much fun!!!

Alisa and Kelly got married on the amazing Canary Hotel rooftop on Saturday. What an amazing view! I love downtown Santa Barbara! We even got some cool portraits at the Santa Barbara Court House. Alisa's colors went with the hotel perfectly! I loved her yellow dahlia's. I think the toasts were the best. Lots of fun moments were had by all :)

Kate and Jason had an amazing wedding in Palos Verdes this weekend. This was fun group. The ceremony was held at St. Lawrence Matyr Church. I loved how the priest set up the church... I had front row seats to Kate and Jason and loved shooting in that church. The available light was pefect! The party really got started at the reception. Those boys could dance!!! The dance floor was on fire and I'm can only imagine how late in the night they danced!

Danyll and Donnie tied the knot at the Mandalay Bay Embassay Suites on Sunday. What a perfect labor day weekend! When we walked into the hotel it felt like we just walked into the caribbean. I loved the live music by the pool. Danyll and Donnie were getting ready in the presidental suite next to the ceremony site and it was so nice everyone gathering together before the ceremony. It was such a warm, fun, family environment :) Congrats Danyll and Donnie!

Road Trip!

My best friend Karyn moved to Portland this week. I was sad to see her go. A road trip was definitly in order. I drove with her up to Oregon. We packed the dogs and headd North. We stopped in Napa and did some serious wine tasting. We got the list of dog friendly wineries and had a tons of fun. We stopped at Mumms, Cakebread, Merryvale and Bennett Lane. I got stocked up for a while. Then we headed up to Arcata so I could check out the old school. We stayed overnight in Brookings, Oregon. It was amazing! One of the highlights of the trip. I'm so glad I could drive Karyn up to Oregon. It as one of the best trips EVER!

Jennifer and David got married at the beautiful Firestone Winery this weekend. Firestone is one of my favorite places for weddings. Jennifer looked so amazing in her dress in the vineyard. We got some great portraits in the courtyard, barrel room and vineyard. With the vineyard and Santa Maria BBQ it was the best Santa Ynez wedding. The food was so good!!! I really was honored to photography Jennifer and David's wedding. They are a great pair! Congratulations!!!!
